21 april The shopfront, Cairo. From the Egypt to Jordan gallery. An image that perhaps doesn't have the obvious appeal that sweeping landscapes and ancient pyramids have, but is none the less one of my personal favourites from the trip. I was drawn to the juxtaposition of the shop window display with its vividly coloured dresses and perfectly postured manikins to the seated man with his drab clothing and slumped posture. Although he's small in the frame, I don't think the image would work without the man present.
14 april Pyramid, Giza Egypt Another image from the Egypt-Jordan gallery, this one captured at Giza outside Cairo, Egypt. Taken with a Canon 5D and processed in Photoshop for a sepia toned black and white effect. I've provided a detailed description of the creating of this image on my main site so I won't go into great detail here, other than to say, I was trying to capture the "timeless" feel of the location. If you'd like to find out more, here's the link to the explanatory article. Enjoy KD
11 april The "road" into Wadi Rum camp.As I've written before, Jordan is not that well known as a tourist destination but has a good deal to offer. The desert region of Wadi Rum is accessed by 4WD vehicles and has some great rocky outcrop and sand dune type scenery. This image is from the Egypt-Jordan gallery and shows the "road" into our overnight camp. enjoy KD. www.kevindowie.com
06 april DhaulagiriI have updated my homepage at www.kevindowie.com with a new homepage image and of course, as is my practice, an explanation of the where, when, how and why? I took the image. "Dhaulagiri" is part of the Nepal gallery. enjoy, KD.
05 april Balloon over LuxorFrom the Egypt-Jordan gallery, this image was captured from a hot air balloon outside the town of Luxor, Egypt. A more detailed explanation of the image is available at my main site; www.kevindowie.com go to the "previous homepage images explained" page for the full story. cheers KD.
03 april The Old Cataract HotelThe Old Cataract Hotel, on the banks of the Nile River. Pictured late in the day with the moon rising in the background, the hotel was where the author Agatha Christie stayed whilst writing Death on the Nile.
This image is part of the Egypt-Jordan gallery. enjoy KD |
